Marion / Rochester Youth Soccer

In a unique collaborative between the towns of Rochester MA and Marion MA we are pleased to announce the formation of a new youth soccer club. The Marion Rochester Youth Soccer initiative has come together and officially launches this Spring of 2015. Formerly Oceaneer’s Youth Soccer Club the MRSL will now fall under the leadership and management of the Marion Recreation Department working in concert with the Rochester Parks Department. Home Fields for the MRYS club will continue to be the terrific facilities at Dexter Lane in Rochester.

“ Our Parks Commissioners are glad that we can come together with Marion Recreation on behalf of the children and the families that have enjoyed playing soccer in our town of Rochester for years. We have a terrific community and a beautiful facility for the kids to enjoy, practice and have fun playing the great game of soccer.”

David Hughes Director of the Parks Commission in Rochester

Under the leadership of Jorge and Tiffany Figueiredo of Marion, Oceaneer’s Youth Soccer has successfully served the mission of youth soccer in our tri town communities. With over a decade of continued growth and increased participation the Marion Recreation Dept. under the directorship of Jody

Dickerson and his team will continue to support, invest and grow area youth soccer in our communities.

“When we decided to launch Oceaneer’s Youth Soccer Club, we didn’t think that 10 years later we would be looking back on what was quite possibly one of the most fulfilling accomplishments we’ve ever experienced in our lifetime. It is sad to say goodbye, however, we are confident that all our kids are in very good hands! It’s not about our legacy living on, but rather a continuation of the hard work and dedication from every member that has ever been a part of what we like to call our soccer family.”

A fun and educational recreational program will continue to be the core of the MRYS and will serve a RECREATIONAL youth soccer program that will kick off late Summer and Fall 2015. A competitive MRYS Travel program kicks off this Spring with two U12 Boys Teams, a Boys U10 as well as a newly formed U12 Girls Team.

“This is a great opportunity to continue the great tradition of youth soccer that was established with 10 years of Oceaneer’s. As we have also always had a terrific working relationship with the town of Rochester we are also looking forward to working with Rochester Parks to invest in, grow and encourage participation in the terrific sport of soccer for our area families and their kids. I am looking forward to the next 10 YEARS.”

Jody Dickerson Director of Marion Recreation
